100th Birthday Party!!!
A long-time member of our Church, George Hall is celebrating 100 Years of Life February 12, 2016. He is the only member to reach this age in the history of our Church. The Birthday Celebration is Sunday February 14. Please come for our regular Worship Service at 10:00am and join George and his daughter Judy in the Fellowship Hall for a Birthday Lunch.
The Morning Glories and the Faith Lutheran Book Club
Chapter 1 are once again collecting baby items to make up Layettes for women who attend Knox Healthy Start for Mom and Me, a parenting support program for refugee and immigrant women who are pregnant or have children under 1 year of age. We invite the congregation to join us in collecting items listed in the narthex.
These items can be dropped off in the box in the Narthex. We will be putting together the layettes for delivery in February. For further information, contact Susan Care at 204-253-4385 or at firstname.lastname@example.org
The church will be receiving an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) shortly as a result of a kind donation. We are looking for a few members who are in the church, with a group, outside of office hours, to receive a 3 to 4 hour training session on the device so they could be certified to use in the event a Cardiac Emergency might arise. Anyone interested please call or email Dan Arnal the Building Supervisor at 204-253-1491×24, email@example.com
You Might Be Lutheran If…
Whether you’re a newcomer to Faith Lutheran, a long-time attender who has never formally joined our congregation, or a member who has wondered what it means to be Lutheran, we invite you to attend a soup
and bread lunch and discussion following worship at 11:30 on February 7th. (Please sign up in the narthex so I know how many pots of soup to make!)
Those interested in membership will then be invited to formally join our membership through Affirmation of Faith during worship on February 21st (and to stay following worship, and join in voting at our AGM!) Questions? Contact Deacon Kris: 204-253-1491 ext. 23, or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for your eager response to the request for volunteers for the Habitat basement build! We have a full slate of workers for July 5 -8 from Faith and are looking forward to a week of good fellowship and productive work. There is still opportunity to volunteer for the main build on St. Mary’s Road during the weeks of July 11 and 18, but there is a limit of 20 volunteers per day. This build is open to volunteers from all the participating churches in St. Vital, so if you want to be in on it, you need to let Orly Freisen know very soon. If you’re 16 or over, physically and mentally fit, have 2 days or more available and want to have a good time helping a needy family, this is your opportunity!
Thank you to the youth, parents, and Director of Youth for faithfully hosting the Pancake Supper as well as the Lenten Soup and Bread meals for so many years. This ministry of service has been a delicious blessing! This year, the youth will continue to host Soup and Bread Wednesdays throughout Lent, but are unable to offer the Pancake Supper on Shrove Tuesday.
